About the Weekend
This camping weekend is open to Scouts, Explorers and Network Scouts, Leaders, Assistant Leaders and registered Skills Instructors as well as members of the Guide Association from anywhere. Members of other uniformed organisations will be considered at the discretion of the organiser. The weekend is based on the water on Bala lake in North Wales and on land at a local farm.
This is a weekend for getting together, enjoying yourself and having a good time learning how to canoe. Coaching is from Scout authorised personnel and or British Canoe Union qualified coaches from around the North West. All organisation and coaching is done on a voluntary basis.
All you have to do is get a booking form by contacting the organiser (see Contact tab on menu), book you and or your group in for the camp in plenty of time, get yourself there and be self-sufficent as far as camping and catering are concerned for the weekend. As this has proved to be a popular event over the years booking is on a 'first come, first served basis'.
Groups are encouraged to bring their own kayaks/canoes, paddles, spraydecks and buoyancy aids, however it is not compulsory, though a discount per kayak/canoe is given to groups providing such equipment and in true Scouting spirit these are then loaned to the participants without.
